Technology and the New Foundation of the World of Education

Digitalization in recent years has certainly had a major impact on various sectors, one of which is the world of education. Not only does it rely on robust connectivity, but many aspects now depend on various digital technologies, including the latest technology often referred to as artificial intelligence, or AI. Educational institutions are now required to move forward, which aligns with the need to continuously adapt in order to remain relevant in an increasingly dynamic world. This digital transformation provides an opportunity for the education sector to create a more connected, adaptive, and flexible educational ecosystem, as well as to build a generation ready to face various new challenges in the future.

The Internet as Educational Infrastructure

The current use of various technologies must certainly be supported by good connectivity;
therefore, the Internet plays a crucial role in educational institutions and all their activities.
These range from managing operational activities and data storage to teaching and learning
activities, as well as collaboration among various parties, which is now increasingly complex
and heavily reliant on a reliable network. The presence of the Internet also opens up new opportunities
for educational institutions to continue providing responsive educational services. With the support
of appropriate and reliable digital infrastructure, schools and educational institutions have greater
scope and capacity for innovation.

From Administration to Strategic Decision-Making

The use of AI in education is often associated with students. However, behind the scenes, many educational
institutions are also beginning to leverage AI technology to support various operational needs.
The proper use of AI allows educators and administrators to have more time to focus on improving
the quality of education itself. AI in operational activities can help manage academic data,
optimize administrative processes, and provide strategic insights that assist in decision-making.

Challenges of Digital Transformation in Education

Although it offers numerous benefits, digital transformation requires careful planning and execution,
and the process does not always unfold under the same conditions at every institution. There are
several challenges in implementing this transformation, such as uneven access to the necessary digital
infrastructure and connectivity, as well as the human resources needed to adopt these digital technologies.
In some regions, access to this infrastructure remains quite difficult to obtain. Furthermore, the adaptation
process takes a considerable amount of time before all activities, from operations to teaching and learning,
can effectively benefit from digital technology. Therefore, digital transformation in the field of education is
a long-term investment that requires collaboration among various stakeholders to bring it to realization.

“As technology changes the way we communicate, connect, create, consume and innovate, it is democratising access to opportunity. Education is no exception.“

Unlocking the New Way to Learn in
the Age of Digital Technology and AI

As July begins, students are getting ready to start a new academic year. Whether they are entering a new level of education or moving up to the next grade, the excitement of learning returns once again. While learning used to be closely associated with textbooks, libraries, and classrooms, the way we learn now has evolved significantly in today’s digital age. The Internet and digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), have created more opportunities for everyone to access knowledge in ways that are easier, more flexible, and more interactive.

Studying Beyond the Classroom

Education has entered a new era where learning extends far beyond classroom walls. By leveraging digital technology, students at both school and university levels can access educational content anytime and from anywhere. This transformation has also encouraged the adoption of hybrid learning, an approach that combines face-to-face learning with online learning. Beyond offering greater flexibility, hybrid learning creates a more dynamic learning experience while encouraging students to develop discipline and a stronger sense of responsibility. At the same time, teachers and educators have more opportunities to deliver lessons in creative ways, making learning more interactive and engaging.

Expanding Access to Diverse Learning Resources

Studying has come a long way from only relying on textbooks. Today, the Internet offers access to millions of learning resources from around the world. Articles, e-books, and educational videos are readily available on the Internet, helping students deepen their understanding of the subjects they are studying. However, not all information available on the Internet is reliable. Students should always be encouraged to use credible and trustworthy sources when searching for learning or educational references.

Unlock New Skills Through Online Learning

Technological advancements have expanded access to education beyond traditional school learning by enabling people to acquire new skills through online courses. Anyone can enroll in online classes based on their interests and learning goals, while enjoying greater flexibility in terms of time and pace. As a result, learning no longer ends when the school day is over. By making the most of the Internet, people can continuously build their skills, explore new interests, and prepare themselves for the demands of an ever-evolving world.

AI Enhances the Learning Experience, Not the Role of Teachers

The increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) has introduced new ways of learning. AI can assist students by explaining complex concepts, summarizing learning materials, and generating ideas for assignments. Nevertheless, AI should not be viewed as a substitute for genuine learning or as a shortcut to completing school tasks. Teachers continue to play an essential role in education by fostering critical thinking, collaboration, character development, and academic growth. Therefore, AI should be used responsibly to support learning and enhance educational outcomes.

Be a Responsible Digital Citizen

Success in the digital era requires more than academic excellence. Students also need digital literacy skills and the mindset of responsible digital citizens. As they embrace technology in their learning journey, students should understand the digital etiquette in the online environment. This includes communicating respectfully, refraining from sharing unverified information, verifying the credibility of online content to avoid misinformation, and using technology responsibly. This is not only to create a safer digital learning environment but also prepare students to navigate the digital world responsibly.
