It has been one year since the pandemic brought so many changes in human lives today. Not only it changes the way we work and carry out our activities everyday, the way we interact and communicate with others has also changed significantly. Today, we might have already been familiar with many new ways to interact with others. We must avoid face-to-face interaction to avoid the spread of COVID-19, which creates plenty of new ways to interact with others. Old methods that most people might have used to see as ‘taboo’ have become a common practice in terms of human interaction since the beginning of the pandemic. The new normal era is here and we cannot do anything to stop it from coming, and for the sake of everyone, we need to make sure that we always obey protocols, right? Handshake is Not the Same Anymore
Shaking hands with others is known as a common gesture and it has become something that most people do on many occasions. However, the pandemic has changed this habit and a different approach has been created to replace handshake, including the idea of using the ‘Namaste’ gesture, which is known as one of the movements in Yoga. Many people in Indonesia have used Namaste since it can be done without any physical touch but still polite, in line with our culture. Moreover, we can also touch our elbows with others, a gesture of placing your palm in your chest and bow, or simply by smiling, since a smile is a universal language and used in almost all countries around the world. So, what kind of gesture do you like to choose?
A Hug is a Rare Thing Today
We used to give hugs to our loved ones, families or best friends to express our feelings and add simple kisses in the cheeks. Now, we have to refrain from doing that for the common good. Indeed, it would be more ‘afdol’ if we can hug our loved ones to express our feelings, but we need to remember that the pandemic is real and the transmission process is very easy and anyone can be infected. So, refraining from hugging and being consistent in keeping our physical distance with others is also a form of our affection and love.
Virtual Hangout is the New Trend
Well, one of the habits of Indonesians is to gather and hangout just to spend time together and chat about many things. Invitations like ‘let’s grab a coffee’ seem to have become a common thing to do, not just to meet and hangout, but also to unwind after a hectic day. Today, we may not be able to do this, at least until the pandemic ends so we can return to normal days. But don’t worry, thanks to technology, even though we cannot see people face-to-face, we can still get together virtually. We can find many applications that accommodate virtual gatherings, which can be as fun as meeting face-to-face. But remember, to keep your virtual gathering fun and smooth, you must use a fast and stable Internet connection.

Learning accounts or known as ambis accounts that are starting to appear on various social media networks are a proof that many people can actually make good use of social media. But what is exactly learning account means? Learning account is an account created by students of college students who dedicate their social media accounts to share study tips, summaries of many learning subjects, and share various information about the world of education. Moreover, many of them also conduct special sessions to discuss about exam questions, study groups, encouragements for each other, and even help each other when some of their virtual friends are in trouble.
