Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI, has quickly grown and transformed many aspects of our daily lives. Aside from supporting personal activities, AI has also driven various industries to compete in adopting this technology to boost productivity and create innovative solutions. However, the massive adoption of AI has also brought new challenges that cannot be ignored. The same technology used to make life easier can also be exploited to create increasingly sophisticated and convincing cybercrime methods, which undoubtedly requires us to be more vigilant.
Deepfake AI
Deepfake technology allows cybercriminals to manipulate a person’s face and voice in an almost
realistic way using AI. These crimes often take the form of audio or video that can resemble important
figures, public figures, or those closest to us, made to look as if they are saying or doing something that
never actually happened. Due to the convincing output, many victims do not realize that they are dealing
with a fake identity. Therefore, in this digital age, it is important for all of us as digital users to be more
vigilant at all times by verifying information with reliable sources and double-checking facts personally
to avoid making critical decisions based on false information.
Email Phishing
Phishing emails are now increasingly advanced, with the help of AI, this method can be easily crafted
using better-structured language. Whereas previously scam emails were easier to spot based on
grammatically unusual sentence structures, now phishing emails seem more professional and
credible. This cyber threat method also uses AI to collect victim data from search engines,
making the email content feel more relevant.
