Hello from
Our President Director.
The rapid digital transformation has brought significant changes to our lives, impacting nearly every aspect, from the way we work, communicate, enjoy entertainment, to how we shop for daily necessities. Therefore, these changes must be supported by strong and reliable digital infrastructure in order to create a more connected society ready to face challenges in the digital era.
In celebration of Biznet’s 24th Anniversary, the October 2024 edition of Biznet Inspire Magazine will highlight how Biznet is building digital infrastructure for a better future, including the development of Biznet’s submarine cable, Biznet Nusantara Cable System (BNCS-1) that will support the equitable of Internet connection in Indonesia. And in Biznet’s current age, we realize that reliable infrastructure is the backbone of high quality services. Not only are there discussions about submarine cable technology and infrastructure, but in this edition, there will also be information about special promotions for Biznet’s 24th Anniversary that you won’t want to miss
This moment is also the perfect time for me, on behalf of the entire Biznet family, to extend our appreciation for the support given for Biznet from customers, business partners, and media colleagues in Indonesia. Discover How Submarine Cable Can Transmit Large Data
Underwater cables are a highly interesting topic to dive into. These cables, located on the bottom of the sea, are highly advanced infrastructure that connects internet networks between islands, countries, and even continents, allowing for fast data transfer with huge capacity. So, how do these submarine cables manage to transfer such vast amounts of data at high speeds? Here’s the explanation!
Using Fiber Optic as the Main Medium
Made from fine glass or plastic, fiber optic is highly efficient at transmitting light. Each fiber in an optical cable can
carry a massive amount of data in the form of light signals. These signals move through the core of the fiber at speeds
approaching the speed of light, enabling extremely fast and large-scale data transfers. Compared to conventional copper
cables, optical fibers also offer much larger bandwidth. Each fiber can carry terabytes of data per second, and with multiplexing
technology, a single cable can carry a tremendous amount of data.
Supported by Advanced Technology
The ability to carry terabytes of data per second in submarine cables is supported by a technology called Wavelength
Division Multiplexing (WDM), which allows multiple data signals to be transmitted through a single fiber optic using different
wavelengths of light. In this way, one fiber optic can carry hundreds to thousands of data channels simultaneously. Additionally,
there is a more advanced technology that can accommodate even more data, known as Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing
(DWDM), which has the advantage of being able to provide higher bandwidth. With DWDM, multiple wavelengths of light are
transmitted simultaneously through a single optical fiber cable. This allows for a significant increase in the capacity of fiber
optic cables, a capability that is crucial in meeting the growing demand for high-speed data and high bandwidth.
Biznet Submarine Cable Network
Biznet has recently launched the first submarine fiber optic cable network named Biznet Nusantara Cable System
(BNCS-1), that connects networks between Java, Sumatra and Bangka Islands. BNCS-1 network consists of 24 pairs
(48 cores) of Fiber Optic using the latest Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology. Each 1 pair (2 cores)
of Fiber Optic cable can transmit data of 96 x 400 Gbps = 38.4 Tbps. It means that ith 24 pairs, BNCS-1 network has a total
capacity of 24 x 38.4 Tbps = 921.6 Tbps. The capacity of this network can be increased in accordance with developments
of DWDM technology.
“Digital transformation is not about technology, it’s about strategy and new ways of thinking.”
– Nick Johnson.

BIZNET EVENT
The Excitement of Biznet Festival Continues to Solo
The excitement of the Biznet Festival continues to one of the cities in Central Java Province, Surakarta City. Also known as Solo, this city was selected by Biznet to host the event entitled Biznet Festival Solo 2024. Located at Taman Sriwedari in Surakarta, this event is free for people in Solo and its surroundings, offering various entertainment such as MOBA, Cosplay, Band and K-Pop Dance Competitions, and special performances by Shaggydog, Endank Soekamti and DJ Megan Azrika, who will liven up the event.
Biznet’s Contribution to the Success of the ‘Lifetime: Tribute to Chrisye’ Music Concert
The concert, which serves as a tribute to the legendary Indonesian musician Chrisye, was successfully held last September at Istora Senayan, Jakarta. Entitled ‘Lifetime: Tribute to Chrisye’, this event allowed the audience to enjoy heartfelt moments that made the night truly special. With a lineup of musicians across generations, the event seamlessly combined Chrisye’s beautiful works with modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, creating the impression that Chrisye was ‘present’ on stage. This illustrates how technological advancements positively impact music concerts in today’s digital age. Technology truly enhances entertainment events like concerts, making them more special and appealing, while also offering new ways for people to enjoy music. As an integrated digital infrastructure company, Biznet was also present at this event, providing Internet connection to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Biznet Presents the Best Internet Connection at the Indonesian Basketball League
One of the most awaited annual basketball leagues, Indonesian Basketball League (IBL), is being held again in 2024. Located at the Senayan Basketball Hall in Jakarta, this tournament, which runs from September 22 to October 6, 2024, features 14 teams and focuses on the development of local player potential. Understanding the importance of reliable Internet technology at an event, including sports events like the IBL, Biznet is supporting the league with Internet connection that ensures smooth streaming of the event, enabling anyone who cannot attend in person to enjoy it through digital platforms.
DID YOU KNOW?
The Journey of Biznet’s Internet
Reaches Your Location
through Under the Sea
Did you know that the Internet you use also travels through undersea pathways? Yup! We can use the Internet thanks to the ocean serving as a ‘place’ to store Internet cables. Perhaps not many people realize that the backbone of global communication lies deep beneath the ocean, where undersea communication cables carry 95% of international data traffic.
Submarine Cable
Fiber optic cables are installed on the ocean floor to connect countries or continents. These cables enable long-distance data transmission at very high speeds. Submarine cables can cover thousands of kilometers, connecting landing stations in various regions around the world.
Cable Landing Station
Submarine cables connect to cable landing stations located on land, which are generally found near the coast. At these stations, signals from the submarine cables are received and then routed to land-based networks, such as fiber optics or other communication networks, before being delivered to Internet service providers. As an integrated digital infrastructure in Indonesia, Biznet also operates Biznet Cable Landing Station, the main gateway for connecting fiber optic networks between islands in Indonesia and the world, making it possible to provide Internet and data communication services with large capacity, fast and reliable.
Internet is One the Way to Your Location
Once the data reaches the Internet Service Provider (ISP), it is then transmitted through the ISP’s network to your location using various methods such as fiber optics, including Fiber To The Home (FTTH), coaxial cables, Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), and wireless, where the ISP sends signals via antennas.
