Getting to Know Fair Usage Policy
When we talk about the Internet, there is one abbreviation that might still sound unfamiliar to many people, namely FUP which is short for Fair Usage Policy. FUP is a policy that is being implemented by Internet Service Providers to ensure reasonable usage of Internet quota. For example, if you use the Internet excessively and go beyond your assigned quota limit, then you can still access the Internet, but at a drastically reduced speed. Internet packages from different providers will usually have different FUP policies, which can be applied on a monthly to daily basis. Each provider may also offer additional quota packages for customers who want to restore their Internet speed after exceeding the original quota limit of the package that they subscribe to.
The Purpose of FUP
Despite the seemingly restrictions on Internet usage, FUP is being implemented with good intentions,
which is to provide a fair Internet usage experience between one user and another. So that the quotas
are being distributed according to each individual needs, because if some users are abusing their access
by using the Internet excessively, this can result in an overall decline in the Internet connection, hence
causing disruptions for everyone.
Good utilization of Internet Quota
Everyone has their own Internet needs, so make sure you know what your needs are. For example, if you
only need just enough quota for daily digital activities such as reading and replying emails, listening to music,
watching YouTube, social media updates and others, then you may only need to subscribe to a package which
offers a small quota limit. To ensure that you continue receiving the Internet speed according to your subscription,
make sure that you maintain your internet quota usage within the your quota limit, avoid downloading or uploading
large files if you have a limited quota limit.
Bandwidth vs Internet Quota
Bandwidth and Internet quota are two very important terms in the Internet world. Bandwidth represents
the speed or capacity to transmit data, while Internet quota represents the usage limit of Internet access.
For example, if your Internet subscription offers a 50 Mbps bandwidth and 1,000 GB quota limit per month,
means your Internet network has the maximum speed or capacity to transfer data up to 50 Mbps, as long
as your data transmission quota usage for that month is still below 1,000 GB. But once you exceed that quota
limit, your Internet speed will decrease.
Internet Service Provider with Big Quota Limit

For Internet users, you may have often heard the term FUP or Fair Usage Policy, which is a policy imposed by Internet providers to regulate the Internet quota usage. This has caused some concerns from some customers, because if they exceed the quota limit, the bandwidth will decrease according to the specified limit. However, even when customers exceed the quota limit, they can still access the Internet, but with bandwidth adjustments. To get the bandwidth speed as before, customers will simply need to purchase an add-on package.
In general, Internet users will be streaming YouTube, streaming VOD, social media and other activities. However, do you know how to calculate the Internet quota that a customer actually needs per month?

Based on the data, the average Internet quota usage for 1 person/device is around 75 – 100 GB per month. As our commitment to continuously improve our services towards Indonesian Internet service needs, effective per January 2024 Biznet upgraded our subscription packages for Biznet Metronet and Biznet Home with a bigger bandwidth and same price special for you. For Biznet Metronet and Biznet Home existing customers, the service package will automatically be upgraded to the latest services package as long as the active period is still valid.
In this upgraded service package, we also implement a quota system for each service, which aims to maintain the service quality to every individual, as well as additional security to limit the service from illegal use. Our latest Biznet Home services have a quota of up to 10,000 GB and Biznet Metronet up to 100,000 GB. If the usage has exceeded the Internet quota limit, the bandwidth will be reduced to the allocated speed. Bandwidth will be back to normal speed during monthly package renewal, or you can easily purchase extra quota to get your speed back to your original package.

To continue improving the service quality and innovation for customers, Biznet launches MyBiznet, a web-based application that provides convenience for customers in accessing various information such as checking the remaining Internet quota, subscription service active periods, history payment and the latest updates about Biznet. Customers can also contact Biznet Customer Service or input customer complaints through this application. To be able to access MyBiznet, customers can go to app.biznet.id from any Internet browser (via desktop or smartphone) with the customer’s username and password.
